So, you’re a music teacher, you’ve got a cupboard full of ukes and a class full of enthusiastic kids and you want to be the best group at the NZ Ukulele Festival later this year What you need is a madcap, friendly, totally am-dram yet utterly professional teachers’ workshop lead by members of The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra.
After six years on the road visiting schools and discovering young musical geniuses, the members of the WIUO have collected a ukulele case full of tips, hints, clues and leads for introducing youngsters to the power of the four-stringed instrument and getting them to move quickly beyond the basic, all-in strumming approach to songs.
Some of the topics that will be covered in our workshop: preparing for your class, group tuning, moving your students beyond the basic strum, creating beautiful vocal and musical arrangements, balancing different knowledge levels within your class, challenging advanced students, confidence in performance.
Requirements:
- Your own ukulele
- Knowledge of chords, tuning, strumming
Duration: 90 minutes plus question time.
Cost: $55 per participant. Limited to 45 participants.
