Gig Information

Get ready to sing along. Some of the most iconic 70’s songs of all time will be performed “live” across New Zealand this April and May by the singers who made them famous so many years ago: The New Seekers’ Eve Graham and Paper Lace’s Philip Wright.

Eve Graham’s remarkable vocal talents have been adored by fans for more than four decades, and the Scottish-born star’s musical journey has seen her perform around the world and on a variety of stages: from American Bandstand and the Sonny and Cher Show, to The Two Ronnies and Morecambe and Wise.

In a career that produced a string of memorable hits, such as Look What They’ve Done To My Song, Ma; Nickel Song; Circles; Never Ending Song Of Love and Beg, Steal or Borrow, Eve is probably best remembered for her performance of I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing, the famous soundtrack to Coca-Cola’s ‘Hilltop’ commercial – the company’s most successful campaign in its history.

Forty years after the release of that track, Eve is back and touring an honour roll of wonderful songs that have lost not an ounce of their original and broad appeal.

Joining Eve on the New Zealand tour will be Philip Wright and Paper Lace, whose memorable compositions such as Billy Don’t Be A Hero; Hitchin’ A Ride and The Black Eyed Boys led them to 70’s superstardom and sold millions of copies around the world.

The classic The Night Chicago Died reached number one in the American Charts, achieving platinum sales and winning the title of largest selling single worldwide in 1974.

After re-releasing two magical albums in 2010, vocalist Philip Wright and original bassist Cliff Fish have joined forces with Phil Hendricks and Paul Robinson to recreate the authentic live sound of Paper Lace for the Smash Hit’s 70’s New Zealand tour.

This is the chance for New Zealand fans to savour that unmistakable 70’s sound of two genuine stars of the era, singing the hits you remember, and sounding like you remember, at a venue near you. It’s a show not to be missed – the Greatest Hits of The New Seekers and Paper Lace “live”.

The 12 date national Tour commences in Hamilton at Founders Theatre on Saturday 28 April and visits Auckland, Tauranga, Rotorua, Hastings, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Wellington, Greymouth, Christchurch and Dunedin, concluding in Invercargill at the Civic Theatre on Saturday 12 May.

Tickets go on sale to the public on Tuesday 07 February. For full event and ticketing information see www.stetsongroup.com or www.thecoast.net.nz.
