Live Roller Derby in Hamilton
The Hellmilton Roller Ghouls proudly present their first home season: ‘Paper, Sissors, BLOCK!’
The Hellmilton Roller Ghouls are your local Roller Derby league, and they have gone from strength to strength since their founding in 2009. The league is now proud to bring to Hamilton their first ever home season, featuring two newly formed teams: The purple and silver ‘Ultra Violent’, and the green and blue ‘Gangreen’.
Roller Derby supporters in Hamilton may have met the league’s travel team, Raggedy Angst, last year, when they took on the Pirate City Rollers. Members of this team, as well as newer skaters that have recently passed their skills tests, will make up the two home teams.
The home season will consist of three bouts, on the 5th of May, 21st July, and the final on the 8th of September. The travel team will also host games in Hamilton, as well as heading to Tauranga and Christchurch for away games during this time.
Both home teams have been training hard since the team roster announcement in March of this year, and are looking forward to vying against each other for the position of home town heroes. If you are keen to be right in the action, come in early when the doors open at 6pm and secure yourself one of the limited ‘suicide seats’ on the edge of the track – BYO cushion, and sit at your own risk!
Whether you are a seasoned roller derby fan, or a newcomer to the sport, the home season bouts are not to be missed. All home games will be played at the Hamilton Devils Inline Hockey Rink on Dey Street in Hamilton East, so get in quick to secure your seats, wear your team colours, and prepare for a great night out!
