Jacky Tar are coming back to Nelson for the first time in over a year. They have just recovered from St Patricks Day and will be making a short trip across the Cook Strait before the winter sets in.
A combination of drums, bass, mandolin, banjo, pipes, fiddle, guitars and vocals they have produced three recordings - 'Poor Mans Labour' (1999),'Defenestration' (Finalist NZ Music awards 2002)and in 2005 'Splatt!!' Their sound has been described as 'New World Music' and has seen them tour Europe to huge acclaim. In recent years they have been cutting back on the live shows while members follow other projects but with some new line up additions and new material they have lost none of their renowned energy and drive.
The line up of the band is now:
Andy Kerr (guitar, vocals, bodhran)
Nick Swan ( banjo, mandolin, guitar, vocals)
Manu Scott (bass)
Mark Hamill (drums)
Paul Turner (pipes, whistles, harmonica)
