Gisborne-based electronic live-act BrazilBeat Sound System had their biggest NZ gig on April 26th, when they played at Wellington's Vodafone Homegrown festival.
The duo played to 5,000 people on the Dub Stage, before kiwi reggae favourites The Black Seeds. The sold-out crowd felt the percussive energy, and reacted enthusiastically.
Homegrown (which sold out 14,000 tickets three weeks in advance) was exclusively New Zealand acts on five stages, a season-opener of sorts for New Zealand Music Month. The fact that we were chosen to play at this event proves that there are no borders for music, said DJ Mara Weiss.
This Saturday BBSS team up with DJ Kraft for a hard-hitting night at The Poverty Bay Club. Kraft, co-founder of the Future Sound of Dunedin drum & bass crew has proved himself as one of New Zealands up and coming DJs. As a resident at Bath Street, one of the country's top night clubs, he has supported some of the biggest names in the industry. Kraft plays full spectrum drum & bass, keeping crowds on the dance floor to the early hours of the morning.
