It will be an unforgettable night of musical mayhem with three great bands and two djs doing their best to leave you breathless with intoxicating rhythms and sounds from Eastern Europe.
This will be the last Gypsy Fever for a while as the Benka Boradovsky Band and DJ Balkanetic are heading to Berlin for 6 months at the end of May. Dress Gypsy!

The Benka Boradovsky Bordello Band
Hailing from the slums and ghettos of Auckland (the Prague of the South), The Benka Boradovsky Bordello band is a highly theatrical musical group specialising in music of Eastern European, Gypsy and Jewish flavour, along with some Western European influences. With music ranging from old to new, originals to standards, vocal to instrumental; they are remarkable in their ability to get everyone up and dancing, regardless of age, musical taste, or level of drunkenness. Following a highly successful 15 date national tour over summer and appearances at Fleetwaters, Festival of Lights, AK09 Festival Club and the Spiegel Tent, the Benkas take time out from recording their full length follow up to last years Danse Macabre ep to headline another Gypsy Fever.
The Jews Brothers
With a rare combination of virtuoso musicianship and wicked self parody, this eclectic, eccentric, energetic band from New Zealand radiates musical mischief and mayhem wherever it goes. Its exhilarating foot-stomping hand-clapping repertoire, both original and traditional features wild Eastern-European dance medleys, neo-40s New York swing, gypsy "hot club", schmaltzy waltzes and funky dance grooves. If you cant dance to this band you gotta problem!
Gypsy Strings
Miros Gypsy Strings is an award winning 5 piece Roma gypsy style band from the Czech Republic. Their authentic Roma style has a magical quality much acclaimed wherever they play. It is the same style which has been enjoyed across Europe, in cafes, restaurants, on sidewalks, and often in the palaces of kings and queens for hundreds of years. This will be their first Gypsy Fever!
DJ Balkanetic
As well as organising the Gypsy Fever parties and tours, DJ Balkanetic has been shaking dance-floors at festivals, clubs and parties around New Zealand for the last few years with a highly uplifting infectious blend of Balkan beats, klezmer and gypsy music.
