Handsome Furs

Tue Aug 25th, 2009

,
Doors open: 9:00 pm
Entry: R18

Marching to the beat of their own synthetic hearts; lovers and intrepid travellers Handsome Furs are New Zealand bound this August for their first ever tour of our far flung shores.

The duo of Canadians Dan Boeckner (of Wolf Parade) and Alexei Perry have been constructing icy yet warm, mechanised yet human, completely dichotomous music together as Handsome Furs since 2006. Following up on their chrome brilliant 2007 debut, Plague Park, 2009 has seen the release of Face Control, a call to arms for human warmth amidst the stifling crush of modern life mediated through screens and channelled through wires. Atmospheric and impressionistic, their music is spare, but in those guitars and synths there’s the hum of a city, the space between stars, all the intensity of a steady, unbroken gaze - this is one band best seen and heard LIVE.

So come out, to feel the music pulse around you and the crowd, flesh pressed up against bones, with your lover, your friends, your fellow humans. Face to face. Grab tight to this chance to feel alive with Handsome Furs this August.
