One part Los Angeles deathcore punishment, one part expat Kiwi spazz metal chaos; US crossover tyrants WINDS OF PLAGUE team up with Melbourne-based Kiwi experimental grindcore merchants AKANAME for a four date New Zealand tour in late October/early November.
Winds of Plague will arrive in New Zealand having released their magnum opus - 'The Great Stone War' - a dark and maniacal concept album exploring the last battle on earth, and musically fusing titanic hardcore breakdowns with deathly riffmanship and symphonic keyboard interludes, set below an unforgiving low-end dual vocal attack. Having toured with Hatebreed and Chimaira among others, and rapidly rising in the North American metal/'core underground, Winds of Plague's first venture into New Zealand is sure to bring many a serious pit-dweller to their knees.
Since having departed windy Wellington for more fertile musical pastures in Melbourne last year, Akaname now return to their motherland for their only New Zealand live performances for 2009. Spasmotic and elastic, crushing yet calculated; the instrumental quartet's sound is refined chaos defined. With a new album 'Faith and Other Evolutionary Obstacles' out now through Debello Records, this will be a much anticipated homecoming for one of New Zealand's proudest underground exports.
Winds of Plague and Akaname will play two shows in Auckland (including the Total Fkn Mayhem festival, alongside Suffocation), as well as dates in Wellington and Whangarei. Miss this tour-de-force at your own peril.
