Hi Abby, Are you still based in Christchurch? If not, I would encourage you to come along and check out Richter City. You will find that each league has its own vibe and ethos. Check our our promo on youtube if you are interested. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z41iSeN4JFw

I agree, for the most part, with Viv... Love to meet you sometime! Last year I was a keen derby roller with the Dead end derby dolls, (Chch) and after a few fun months and a few bruises too I realised that I was playing one stupid game. Men love rugby... They chase each other, hit each other and stick their fingers in other mens ears and bums. Derby waas supposed to be fun, and guess what... The women chase each other, hit each other, yell and scream for the cameras. Show biz, not sport just like rugby isnt sport anymore just entertainment. 2 of my friends were hurt bad and I didn't see the point after a while, glad to not be in the derby now, just miss the fitness but not the competitiveness and OTT bull. A.G.

Hey, all I can say is that this was the best $12 I have spent in a long time. Watching women hurtling around a track at breakneck speed trying to outdo each other - and in short skirts/body suits! Bring it on!

Hi Viv. I don't know how much you know about Roller Derby but we would strongly argue that though it is a physical sport it is not violent. Roller Derby is a legitimate sport, played by thousands of women around the world. I'd love to have a chat to you about it further if you are willing.

Hang on Viv, did you seriously use the word "invulvament"? I find that linguistically offensive. If feminism decides that we can't enjoy baking and housekeeping, and equally we can't enjoy creative, physical competition on an even playing field, then it's going to be a very dull existence.

Hey Viv get real! I will be there with bells on to watch these girls get nasty. Heard of a bit of fun, didn't think so...

Please ladies... as a co-feminist, I seriously doubt that crashing into each other in the name of womanhood can be helpful. The 'sport' is offensive to women, feminism and entertainment. Think carefully about your invulvament in this event and in Roller Derby in particular. I urge women, feminists, families to boycott this event.
