Gig Information

350 Wellington has organised a festival on the International Day of Climate Action on Saturday 24 October 2009.

On Saturday 24 October, Wellingtonians will join cities around New Zealand and thousands of cities around the world in letting our government and the UN know that we support strong, urgent, scientifically recommended action on climate change.

Come be part of the action to call for strong international policies to rebalance the changing climate - and have some fun!

There will be masses of festivities: meditation, yoga, Cycle Awareness Wellington, Frocks on Bikes, Ecotherapy, bands (see below), dance troupes, drumming galore and more.

Food, stalls and live music will keep us going throughout the day, with opportunities to let our leaders know how you feel and to find out more about what you can do right now.

Dont miss the chance at 3.50 pm to form a massive human sculpture to be photographed and sent to the UN along with similar photos from around the world.

There have been tons of amazing events and actions building up to the festival, and many more taking place around the Wellington region on the day. Youll be able to check out photos from all of them (or look out for yourself) on screens around the festival.

Come over and join one of the many activities to show that you want action on climate change.

Performance Lineup:
Batacuda,
Phantom Tollbooth,
Thought Creature,
Sam Manzanza and the African Drumming Band,
Mahanila,
Real Hot Bitches.

This December, the New Zealand government will be in Copenhagen for the negotiation of the next international treaty on climate change (the follow-on from the Kyoto Protocol). It is crucial that we all take time NOW to let the government know that Wellington supports a strong, scientifically recommended target of 350ppm of CO2 .
