Richard Gilewitz's Guitar Foundations
Fundamentals, Insight and Theory for Beginning Guitarists

Build up your playing know-how and become the architect of your own learning curve with this step-by-step collection of lessons from the master of technique, Richard Gilewitz. Just released by Truefire.com, Guitar Foundations is more than just a random collection of topics - it is a 157 minute CD ROM of 27 video segments that forms the bedrock from which to construct a steadfast cornerstone of guitar playing proficiency.

For the beginner, Richard Gilewitz takes you from the ground level up with simple building blocks that unlock the mystery of music theory, Major, minor, and 7th chord treatments, exploring the anatomy of the guitar and the design of different keys. Intermediate players can select slabs of discussion about suspended and 9th chords, plus inversions, and how to build upon existing picking patterns to create new sounds utilizing triplets and 16th notes. Advanced players can retool their techniques while working with the metronome and can get back to the root of their playing style with a boundless mix of genre structures, including a spruce up of the standard 12 Bar Blues and restoration of chord and scale shapes along with rhythm patterns.

Now available from TrueFire.com in DATA-DVD and Download formats http://truefire.com/guitarfoundations/guitarfoundations_gilewitz.html

Richard Gilewitz is widely respected as one of the most graceful fingerstyle guitarists on the contemporary scene. Gilewitz has collaborated and appeared in concert with the likes of John Renbourn, Mose Allison, John Fahey, Leo Kottke, Adrian Legg, The Little River Band, Taj Mahal, John Hammond, Rory Block and Jorma Kaukonen. Richard is also an excellent instructor with an innovative approach for communicating and demonstrating conceptual approaches for guitar-centric composition, improvisation and performance. He will be returning to New Zealand in 2010, performing in concert and also conducting GillaCamps- his guitar instruction workshops - throughout the North and South Islands.
