FATANGRYMAN sign to MUZAI

Date Added : 6th March, 2010 @ 00:14

We’ve been talking to them about it for a while, dating back to when we asked them to play a few shows with some of the bands on the label and generally meeting them at variouus house parties in Parnell. But we’ve finally had the nerve to formerly ask them out – and they said yes. So now we’re holding hands in public for the first time…

Ladies and gentlemen, MUZAI Records is very pleased announce Auckland based three-piece FATANGRYMAN have signed to our little ol’ label!

With appearances on 95bFM (The Rock ‘n’ Roll Wire and Morning Glory have both played tracks from their early demo) and a number of apperances with the likes of Nice Birds and Bandicoot, FATANGRYMAN came to our attention as part of the young-wave scene that has been happening in Auckland around the days an eccentric coffee shop owner opened his doors to let bands play without age restriction. We ended up listening to “Fucked Up Babies” and “Wrapped In Plastic” a number of times, with their eccentric, noisy, loose live shows winning us over equally as much

And when we say loose, we don’t mean messy, all over the place in a bad way. We mean it in a good way – crossing different styles, being unsafe with their approach with a total, sneering undertone to their music and a completely impish sense of humor. Who else would have the audacity to sample “Emotional and Dirty” and rework it as a Christmas song? Who else would have such ideas as to eat mouthful of blue M&M’s, vomit and declare that as album artwork?

We are really excited to be working with them from here on in, and them we are sure excited working with us.
