The putorino is a traditional NZ Maori (harmonic) bugle flute made from one piece of wood that is split and carved and then bound back together.
It is the musical embodiment of Hine Raukatauri, the Maori goddess of flute music, who at certain times presents in the form of a bagmoth.
She is believed to have the most beautiful voice in all of the forest.
