Durie Hill Putorino Echo vs Putorino by

Year
2013 Rob Thorne plays putorino in the Durie Hill Tunnel, Whanganui, NZ. This clip is just inside the 205m long concrete tunnel and has the longest echo time of all 3 clips. The putorino is a traditional NZ Maori (harmonic) bugle flute made from one piece of wood that is split and carved and then bound back together. It is the musical embodiment of Hine Raukatauri, the Maori goddess of flute music, who at certain times presents in the form of a bagmoth. She is believed to have the most beautiful voice in all of the forest.
