Bio :
Nick Granville is a highly respected New Zealand session guitarist, composer, and educator whose work spans blues-rooted groove, rock/pop, modern jazz, and melodic sophistication. Throughout his career, he has performed with international stars such as Mike Stern, Dave Weckl, Joey DeFrancesco, Kurt Elling, Steve Smith, Ronan Keating, Chris de Burgh, and Delta Goodrem, as the Guitarist on New Zealand's Dancing With The Stars, as well as New Zealand legends including The Lady Killers, Dave Dobbyn, Kiri Te Kanawa, Don McGlashan and Julia Deans to name but a few...
He regularly works with the NZSO, Orchestra Wellington and also the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. He leads his own ensembles and has released several critically acclaimed albums, including Home, Refractions, Wishful Thinking, and Round the Bend. He was also a long-time member of the Rodger Fox Big Band.
Granville is a first-call session musician and has recorded in world-class studios such as Capitol Studios and United Studios in Los Angeles, as well as Kronos Recording (also in LA), where he recorded his latest album ReAMPED with Benjamin J. Shepherd and Dylan Elise (engineered by Gary Novak). He has performed around the world including at all the major jazz festivals and clubs in NZ but also in the UK at the Birmingham Symphony Hall, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and Indigo at London's O2 and in the USA at The Monterey Jazz Festival, The Lighthouse (where LA LA Land was filmed) and Vitello's jazz club in Los Angeles.
As an educator, he has taught at the New Zealand School of Music and has conducted workshops across the country and abroad. He has also performed in major theatre productions (lead guitar in We Will Rock You, Mamma Mia, Les Misérables, and Wicked) and contributed to film, television, and orchestral projects.
He maintains a strong online presence on YouTube with currently 20,000 subscribers and a dedicated following.
