‘Vindication Blues’: The feeling of despondency or despair experienced when one’s pessimistic predictions have been proven to be true.
After two years on the road, touring throughout New Zealand in high summers and deep winters, Luckless is releasing their sophomore album ‘Vindication Blues’ on July 11th.
The ever-evolving project of songwriter Ivy Rossiter, Luckless roots captivating lyrics in fierce guitars and propulsive drums, conjuring a milieu of sound and emotion unique in New Zealand’s musical landscape today.
Unafraid of yielding to extremes of emotion and volume, Vindication Blues ricochets from melancholy to fury, from oppressive anxiety to ironic joy. Not since Fur Patrol’s Julia Deans has New Zealand had as compelling a front woman- a guitar slinging, caterwauling explosion as capable of entrancing as eviscerating an audience.
Now, for the ‘Vindication Blues’ tour, Rossiter and returning drummer, Logan Compain are joined by Rob Collins on bass (Dictaphone Blues, Heavy Jones Trio) and Ben Eldridge on guitar (Warlords Of Atlantis, Heavy Jones Trio). With two albums worth of complex and compelling material to draw from, this lineup of extraordinary musicians promises audiences a dynamic show of great strength and enchanting beauty. This tour will be the only chance to experience Luckless as a glorious four-piece, the band’s most exciting and sophisticated incarnation to date.
Luckless will be joined in Auckland by Grand Rapids, acclaimed project of songwriter Ben King of Goldenhorse, alongside Dominic Hoey of Tourettes with a spoken-word set.
