UTR Presents
Violent Femmes will perform their first New Zealand concert in nine long years, with a one-off show at Auckland’s St James Theatre on Wednesday 2 March, 2016.
Violent Femmes first came together in 1981 and have earned a legion of fans across the globe with iconic hits like Blister In The Sun, American Music, Gone Daddy Gone, Add It Up, Kiss Off and Please Do Not Go. The band has released eight studio albums, with another long-player rumoured for release shortly.
This year Violent Femmes - singer/guitarist Gordon Gano, bassist Brian Ritchie and drummer Brian Viglione - released new EP ‘Happy New Year’, and toured the US with a series of acclaimed shows.
Originating from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Violent Femmes are ranked among the era’s most inventive and original, constantly pushing forward with their singular blend of folk and punk, sarcasm and spirituality.
In support at the St James is Auckland duo Hopetoun Brown. Nick Atkinson and Tim Stewart – the dynamic Supergroove horn section - have their own Hopetoun Brown album Burning Fuse out on 30 October. They’ve been wowing crowds up and down the country with their soulful vocals and horns.
