Gig Information

Melbourne post-rockers Gold Class and Auckland favourites Yukon Era have announced two co-headlining shows in Auckland and Wellington in late July this year.

Increasingly known at home and abroad for their powerful live shows, Gold Class’s on-stage presence is captured in the erupting song. Lyrically, ‘Twist In The Dark’ lays out an inner conflict that speaks to larger concerns. “The stars are all turned up and off and up and off,” Curley sings, hinting at a desire for transformation, for liberation, to both run from the past and to rush forward.

Set to be on the road for much of 2017, Gold Class have been in lockdown working on new music, due later in 2017. “Twist In The Dark” is produced by Gareth Liddiard, better known for fronting and producing boundary-pushing records for his own band, The Drones.

Gold Class’s 2015 debut album, It’s You, was something of an underground sleeper, seeing the band short-listed for the Australian Music Prize and sending them off to tour the USA and Europe throughout 2016. At home, the band continued to sell out shows and was welcomed by festival crowds, including those at Splendour In The Grass and Golden Plains.

Named as one of the Top 8 Kiwi Guitar Tracks of 2016 by Impose Magazine [US], Yukon Era are: Old-fashioned rock and roll cut from the same cloth as Polvo and Fugazi – embedded with a hint of classic kiwi jangle. ‘A post-punk band on the rise, with the confidence and skill to make it big.
Hailing from Auckland NZ, the four piece post punk band are one of the youngest bands to perform at St Jerome’s Laneway Festival. The boys have just completed a 15 date NZ/AUS tour, seeing them sell out four shows in NZ, supporting their latest single ‘Tongue’ which reached #3 on the NZ Alternative charts.

Their first self titled EP garnered attention from Noisey and Tone Deaf and their second EP - Consume & Scratch – attracting interest to the band from The New Zealand Herald, Impose Magazine, Sniffers, and The Wireless.
