Gig Information

Balamohan Shingade will be giving a captivating performance of Indian classical music at the Auckland Zen Centre on 17 February. A singer in the Hindustani classical tradition, Balamohan performs a style of music based on improvisation which was developed in the temples and princely courts of India. He has a wide audience base in Auckland, appealing to those who love Ravi Shankar and all forms of improvisation, as well as those who seek a spiritual experience through music. Balamohan has previously performed at Auckland Arts Festival's White Night, Auckland Art Gallery, Audio Foundation, Diwali at Aotea Square, and at numerous concerts with visiting musicians from India.

For this performance, Balamohan will explore Raga Multani. He will be accompanied by Basant Madhur, a prolific tabla player and the founding teacher of the Sargam School of Indian Music in Auckland.

This is a fundraising concert for the Auckland Zen Centre.
