Aro are bringing their jazz-pop sounds to Napier for the first time and are joined by local artist, Joe Coleman and genre-hopping band The Skinny Millionaires for a full and fun night of music at The Paisley Stage.
Aro are a New Zealand jazz-pop duo made up of Charles (Nga puhi, Te Rarawa, Waikato, Te Ati Awa) and Emily Looker (nee Rice). The pair have packed up their life into a van and are on a Aoteroa-wide tour. Aro are an amalgamation of stories in song expressing the people, the culture and the land of Aotearoa.
Love defines this jazz-pop, husband & wife duo, and harmony is their signature.
The Skinny Millionaires have corralled their contrasting personalities, musical attitudes and star signs into a colourful dynamic holding pen. It shouldn't work, but it does, contingent on genre-hopping creativity, sparks flying and allowing each new song to be wholly different to the last. Three guitars, bass, drums set off wily words exploring spaces between light and darkness, euphoria and despair, love and morality - often with melodic and lyrical humour.
Come along to hear some fresh kiwi tunes!
