Gig Information

Camerata’s third concert of the year celebrates the book launch of The McCulloch Collection – Paintings, Sculptures & Tapestries of a Broken Hill “Silver King” by Lawrence McCallum. In “Music in the Gallery”, the orchestra performs a selection of music associated with the art works in George McCulloch’s remarkable collection, with baritone Joshua McGirr premiering two songs written especially for the occasion by the orchestra’s conductor Patrick Shepherd – Up in the Morning Early by Robert Burns and George McCulloch penned by the book’s author, Lawrence McCallum. McGirr and the orchestra will also perform Finzi’s Who Is Silvia?
Also featured in the programme are Elgar’s evergreen Serenade for Strings, Reger’s unashamedly romantic Lyrisches Andante and a rousing medley of Scottish folk tunes by William McConnell entitled Reel Fiddlin’.
