Christchurch-based Rob Grover will appear with a new band at Lyttelton’s Wunderbar on November 9 in support of his soon-to-be released album Aviator.
A regular of the Christchurch music scene, Grover recorded Aviator with local producer Ben Edwards at Lyttelton’s Sitting Room studio.
A frequent collaborator, Grover was joined in the studio by talented musicians Tim Sellars (drums, percussion), Tim Driver (keys) and Nicholas Bosman (bass).
Vocal harmonies colour the arrangements, with Grover bringing together a breadth of guest voices to accompany his own, including Solomon Muir, Tumanako Tinirau and Tina Schäfer.
The result is a lush record, with hallmarks of 1960s pop and soul, free-flowing instrumentation, and a distinctly analogue feel.
Grover will be joined at Lyttelton’s Wunderbar by a new band consisting of:
Tim Sellars (drums)
Chris Wethey (bass)
Ryan Fisherman (guitar)
Frankie Daly (keys)
