a symposium exploring diverse sonic spaces

Join us at Pyramid Club for a one-day symposium featuring practitioners working in exciting and diverse areas of sound - from taonga pūoro in music therapy, to DIY artist run venues, to sound design for gaming.

Presenters include:
Beth Dawson aka Ducklingmoster
Audio-visual artist and member of Dunedin psych noise band The Futurians and Tāmaki Makaurau based collective Uniform. Beth was one of the organisers of DIY venue Spacething in the late 2000s in Newtown

Ruby Hinepunui Solly
A music therapist and taonga puoro practitioner amongst other things, Ruby recently completed a masters in music therapy, researching the use of taonga puoro within acute mental health. Currently working on a project utilising the natural environment as an element and player in recorded music

Bek Coogan aka Oonaverse
Musician and performance artist jumping from boulder to boulder across the canyon of creativity. You may know her from Cortina, Full Fuckin Moon, Sheville, or the Wellington Ukulele Orchestra

Stephanie Engelbrecht
Currently working in sound design for mixed reality games, Stephanie has a background in film sound design and foley. She performs solo as Haunts, is a member of local coven Hex, and a former member of Strike percussion

Kirsty Porter & Sarah Bingle
Masterminds behind SNAILS artist run space, the centre of alternative art and music in Palmerson North. Two thirds of Gorge and one half of Valerie, their music is rooted in Palmy’s long tradition of underground garage rock bands

Emi Pogoni
A sonic artist working in theatre, dance and film, founder of long-running series Works for Loudspeakers

Cooki Ami Stains
Maverick performer, musician and costumier whose solo music project Strange Stains merges into abstract absurdist theatre and video art... more to be announced

This symposium has an emphasis on women working in sound. EVERYONE is welcome to attend!
