Feeling adventurous? Prepare for three vital injections of avant-garde sound!
First up is Teen Haters, featuring Christchurch's Helen Greenfield (cello, keyboard, electronics) and Peter Wright (guitar, keyboard, electronics). Renowned for their solo work – their performances often start slow and quiet, then build in intensity, creating an enveloping ambience that's flecked with noise.
Up next is composer, DJ and sound performance artist, Betty Apple, whose ability to use 'unexpected' mass-produced objects as sound elements has propelled her to the forefront of Taiwan's new wave of electronic music and experimental sound art. Think vibrators and fluorescent paint...
Then get your fattest reed and bite down hard as Aotearoa Snuff Jazz Sextet give you the same visceral thrill as a ringside seat at the rumble in the jungle. Three saxes, a polyrhythmic drummer and turntables, all topped off with some badass guitar. We're talking serious 'energy music'.
Hold onto your hats, this will be one wild ride!
