Gig Information

Who the FOLK is that?! is a showcase series of young up and coming folk musicians in Wellington. This concert features the sounds of erdington, Sofia Machray, and Seamus Johnson.

Moodscapes abound Queenstown’s indie singer-songwriter Sofia Machray like a breath of fresh mountain air. Sofia's captivating lyrics and dynamic guitar playing are well-matched by
her uniquely raw vocal style, conveying authenticity and pure emotion. Growing up surrounded by the mountains, she draws her inspiration from around her, intrigued by the way we operate as humans. Sofia’s captivating lyrics are matched by her dynamic guitar playing, sharing similarities with Indie legends such as ‘Daughter’ and ‘Hoizer.’ Her honest lyrical content and genuine nature open's up a world of nostalgic and atmospheric sound allowing you to relate and reminisce with songs that are timeless. The quality of instrumentation mixed with a unique vocal style evokes significant emotion in the listener. She has truly hit the ground running, with a large focus on crafting atmospheric music that is not exclusive to any type of listener or genre. Sofia is fast at making a name for herself in the New Zeland music industry, making her a must-see artist on the alternative
indie scene.

Seamus Johnson of Sea Mouse will be playing acoustic renditions of Sea Mouse songs, delta blues covers and more.
