POSTPONED! STAY TUNED
Join Storehouse in the gaudy environs of the Grey Lynn Ballroom (AKA the Grey Lynn RSC function room) for unhinged rhythm & blues, rare & racy calypso, and general improvised perfection.
Unlike anything else on the scene, they deftly blend lewd, pulsating rhythms with tonality-tweaking melodies and a cavalier disregard for arrangements and/or rehearsal. It’s a satirical Venn diagram of boogie, wit and surrealism - deeply south of psychedelia, and way to the west of soul.
Featuring the primitivist guitar noodlings of Tom Rodwell, the backwoods burblings of Count Bassy and the scattershot drum magic of Chris O’Connor, Storehouse have been internationally active in a variety of formats since 2003, and have served as opening act for the likes of Son of Dave, Kitty, Daisy and Lewis, Trinity Roots and Leon Russell.
Sheffield's answer to Lightnin' Hopkins. - NME
By turns wild, angry, hypnotic and sensual, it's as uncompromising as it is funky and some of the best live music I've seen. - Blues in London
Thanks for making my job a lot harder, man. - Otis Taylor
