Since hacking into the drum and bass scene in 2010/11 and signing music to RAM records, Metalheadz and Critical Music and more along the way as well as starting his own imprint Cyberfunk™ and collaborating with the likes of Break, Noisia, Dub Phizix, DRS, DLR and many more XTRAH has opened up the minds of the youth to energetic atmospherics, redesigned classic drums breaks, heavyweight baselines and deep, meaningful messages coded within the music and breakdowns created in the studio.

XTRAH’s debut Album ‘X’ is a brief glimpse into the vast musical knowledge and heritage possessed by the creative mind of XTRAH. ‘X’ takes influence from the UK’s extensive dance music history and the culture that comes hand in hand with it. From Hardcore to jungle, to Drum and Bass, to hip hop and into the 140 realms of Garage, Grime and Dub. The album is a journey through tempos with an ample amount of flavours for you to take in and process.

This is not 12 bangers thrown together and called an LP.

The collaborations on the album are heavily focussed on vocalists from ‘Holding On (ft ‘Genic)’ to other collaborations on the album with guest appearances from DRS, Sense MC, Ray Uptown along with a collection of eclectic recordings taken whilst touring the world on his travels. The videos for this project include some astonishing cinematography shot and edited by some of the worlds most exciting camera operatives, film editors and animators. Just as much thought has gone into the graphic and visual side of this project as it has on the music side, if not more so.

There is no doubt you will be able to hear and see that this process has taken years of hard work in the studios along with countless hours of tuning, testing, fine tweaking, editing, re-editing and re testing continuously with back and forths between XTRAH and his team until it was right and finally ready for release.

We hope you enjoy the sound of ‘X’ marking a decade of hard work and defining the shape of things to come in the next.

dj, Xtrah
