Concert FM presents: Alexander Boulton's 'Les Charmants'

After recently returning from London, jazz guitarist Alex 'Honey' Boulton has been busy on the Wellington scene, taking part in an array of different musical contexts.

After the release of his debut album 'Portrait' (, Alex's most recent musical endeavour was to recreate the electricity of the group known as 'The Poll Winners' (Barney Kessell, Ray Brown, Shelley Manne). Expect the vitality of a large ensemble with the freedom of a trio.

Introducing Les Charmants:
Inspired by the crisp arrangements and relentless swing of this group, the group will perform Alex's brand new (still in packaging) original compositions as a trio of Guitar, Bass and Drums. The writing of these tunes was motivated by Alex's experiences in recent times, and excitement to be back and playing with such a stalwart rhythm section as Seth Boy (Bass) and Hikurangi Schaverien-Kaa (Drums).

These three (Les Charmants~The Charming) recently recorded these original compositions (with a peppering of classics, to taste) to release as an album, so be sure to get in line for this special advanced listening, where the group will play the album from start to finish.

Join us for an intimate show, with cabaret seating. As always, there will be delicious food available and your favourites on tap or behind the bar. Doors at 7:30pm, and there will be a brief interview with Alex before the gig.

Tickets available on Moshtix or $20 cash on the door.

For those of you out of town, there will also be a Facebook live stream from ~8pm, so be sure to tune in and let us know where you're watching from!
