Gig Information

One of NZ's favourite live performers, Andrew London, is teaming up with acclaimed folk duo, Gillian Boucher & Bob McNeill, for a **one night only** show on the Kapiti Coast. This will be an evening full of driving instrumental rhythms, finely crafted songs and no doubt some wild stories, by these absolute masters of their craft. Not to be missed!

The Andrew London Duo

'Let's Talk About Me', 'I Hugged My Mate', ‘Middle Aged Man in Lycra', the titles say it all. Andrew London's whimsical songs reflect mainstream culture with gentle irreverence, and playfully lampoon many of society's obsessions and taboos. Themes run the gamut from rugby fans, driving habits, youth culture and weddings to male insecurities, technophobia, household appliances, pretentious socialites, and various other issues of concern to the average middle-aged, middle-class Antipodean baby-boomer.

Delivery is wrapped in an easy-going and accessible 1940s-era ‘Hot Club’-style swing package, with occasional sallies into folk, blues and western swing; and London’s easy-going banter holds the show together with stories that draw the audience in and set up the songs. Kirsten London accompanies as bass guitarist, backing vocalist and prompt.

Gillian Boucher & Bob McNeill

Gillian Boucher, an award-winning fiddler & dancer from Eastern Canada’s Scottish-infused Cape Breton Island, and Bob McNeill, an award-winning guitarist, singer & songwriter originally from Scotland, share a deeply seeded passion for their musical heritage and culture. Mere months before a global lock-down, the duo released their highly anticipated new album, Race for the Sun, with a successful tour of both Canada and the USA. Race for the Sun, featuring Gillian's unique fiddle style, paired with Bob’s innovative, rhythmic accompaniment and powerful lyricism, take what you know about traditional Celtic music and bring it to another level altogether.
