Gig Information

Award winning multi-instrumentalist Ranea Aperahama hits the Moon stage with his live band with The Good taste Selections and DJ Kerb spinning the choicest cuts of Maori music from back in the day to now. This will be for a night of tumkeke waiata so come down for a kai and kani kani!

RANEA has co-written, recorded and released songs with groups such as Southside of Bombay & the top five hit ‘What’s the Time Mr Wolf’ which achieved gold sales status, and featured in the world famous film 'Once Were Warriors'.

RANEA and twin brother Ruia released the album ‘Whare Māori’ in late 2000, which was nominated as a finalist in the New Zealand Music Industry’s Tui Awards. A limited release tribute concept, ‘Waiata of Bob Marley', again had the Aperahama brothers sharing vocal duties, covering a selection of Bob Marley’s songs sung completely in Māori.

Tihei Mauri Ora is RANEA's long awaited debut album. It is a collection of original compositions celebrating the gift of life & was launched at Rātana Pā on 24-25 Jan 2015.

These songs were composed to rejuvenate and invigorate my spirit to encourage it to flitter beyond the clouds of despair - to feel and connect with the breath of my deepest consciousness.

Life is a gift, my heart beats with the earth, my breath beats with the heavens, your breath my breath, a heart that is firmly placed as the ancients of heaven, oi! My heart! The sneeze of life into the world of light!

All Tihei Mauri Ora tracks engineered and produced by Maaka Phat.
