John Prine was an American country folk singer-songwriter. He was active as a composer, recording artist, and live performer from the early 1970s, and was known for an often humorous style of original music that has elements of protest and social commentary .
He played a sold out concert at Christchurch’s Theatre Royal early last year .
He became a victim of Covid 19 and died April this year .
On September 18th at St Mary's Church, Addington we honour John Prine with 16 of his songs as performed by some of Christchurch's top musos :
Andy Thompson – Guitar and vocals, Liz Nichol -banjo and vocals , Blair Allchurch – guitars and vocals, Jeremy Brownbrooke – violin and mandolin, Barry Smith – bass guitar and vocals, Nigel Malthus – drums and percussion , Geoff Skinner – guitar and vocals .
The concert starts at 7.30pm and doors open at 7.00pm. Admission - $20 waged and $15 unwaged and gold card . Please bring cash.
