Gig Information

Best known as a traditional Irish flute player, and singer. Karen has been involved in the New Zealand trad and folk music scenes for nearly thirty years. She has played with many different line ups over this time, recorded for National Radio with Wellington band ‘Spootiskerry’ in the 90s and released a CD, with long time duo partner and pianist Mark Wilson, in 2012. Her family band ‘Delany’ were guests at Whare Flat in 2009. Living in Arrowtown for the past 17 years, she has been involved with all sorts of local musical fun, long standing weekly pub sessions and occasional ceilidh dances.
Karen will be performing a selection of her favourite songs and tunes on Flute, Whistles Mandola and Bodhran. Whist most will be of Irish and Scottish origin there will be a few random ‘others’ in the mix. She will be joined by her daughter Becky Reid and also by fantastic Irish fiddle player, Kate Flo Murphy
