Late Night with Miles Calder.

Page Galleries will be hosting a series of live performances from Miles Calder at 5.30pm, 6.30pm, and 7.30pm on Saturday 29 May 2021.

Miles Calder's solo album Autopilot Life was released earlier this year. The singer-songwriter delivers cutting lyrics with an expressive voice. A few years since the last outings with former backing band The Rumours, Miles has emerged with a revived sound, fresh songs and a new band. His new self-reflective songs move from understated folk-rock to swirling psychedelia, evoking early 70s Lennon as much as contemporaries like Kevin Morby or Father John Misty.

Newly acquainted with writing and playing on both piano and electric guitar, the previously acoustic-guitar bound songwriter has found new avenues of expression, and as Miles puts it, “effective raw ideas that come from riding the edge of your comfort zone”.

This event is part of Face to Face: Portrait Festival, a local festival timed to coincide with the launch of The Kiingi Tūheitia Portraiture Award at the New Zealand Portrait Gallery, an inaugural award for emerging Māori artists. The festival will run across more than a dozen dealer and public art galleries in the Wellington region.

This free event is made possible by Wellington City Council.
