Originally hailing from the desert town of Alice Springs, Beekeepin' Pete has been playing his blend of original folky-country-blues in the South Island for the last half decade. When he’s not singing to his happy bees in his rumbling baritone voice, he performs in and around Otago, both solo and with an ever evolving band.
Inspired by such classics as Johnny Cash and Willy Nelson, and Indy rockers Shakey Graves and Nathaniel Ratliffe, Pete brings his fun and energetic songwriting to you (after running each song past the bees of course).
Highly commended in the open songwriters event of the 2021 NZ Gold Guitar Awards, and having recently shared the bill at Southlands Revitalize Festival with such greats as Don Mcglashan and King Leo, Beekeepin’ Pete is on track to keep having fun, making fun music and playing it to fun people- if you see him say G’day!
