Gig Information

Accordion player Marcio Martineli is from São Paulo in Brazil, where he studied accordion and led the Forró Di Marti trio. He now lives in Christchurch and shares the good vibes of Forró leading a band called Simbora.
Celebrate the Brazilian Harvest Festival with music from Marcio Martineli and Brazilian Social Club! It's a night of Quadrilha, Forró, and Xóte rhythms for dancing and party time Brazilian style!

Festa Junina, also called the Festa de São João holiday, is a traditional Brazilian harvest festival that takes place in June. It is practiced mainly by rural farmers, known as caipiras or matutos, and celebrates the end of the rainy season, rural life, and the beginning of the harvest.
We encourage you to dress up in traditional style! Here's how:
Men dress up as farm boys with large straw hats and women wear pigtails, freckles, painted gap teeth and red-checkered dresses.
Tickets $15-$20
