CJC Creative Jazz Club is pleased to welcome LacLu to our new venue at Pah Homestead.
LacLu explores freedom of expression in music-making via improvisation on original compositions as well as de-constructed familiar jazz tunes. Inspired by the spaciousness and spontaneity of the legendary trio of Bill Frisell, Joe Lovano, and Paul Motian, LacLu’s approach prioritises raw emotion, group interplay, and interesting musical textures.
Continuing the cross-generational circle of mentorship and dialogue in jazz, Keith Price (40 years) is the convenor of jazz at the University of Auckland while Francesca Parussini (23) and Max Crook (21) are talented recent graduates.
Building upon performances at 151 Improv, Club 306, and The Wellington Jazz Festival, LacLu are excited to return to CJC in celebration of the release of their debut self-titled album, LacLu, available September 6th on all streaming platforms.
