Working Bees is a new project aimed at giving musicians a forum to experiment with new music and publicly test ideas in a friendly and low-key environment. The event is a weekly residency, with an open rehearsal taking place before a presentation of the music.
Join Jake Baxendale and his Gardening Music ensemble as they delve into live performance approaches to his composting composition technique. The musicians choose their own path through layers of written material, choosing one, leaving the other, so that the ‘theme’ emerges only slowly and partially throughout the performance: mixing initial statements with concluding statements, blurring the notion of “beginning” and “ending” and creating an indeterminate “middle” which is the present in which we all live.
Open workshop 5:30pm, gig 7:00pm. Suggested koha: $10-20
