Gig Information

Bankrupt Records proudly announces the return of ABG with their latest—and final—EP, ‘Home is a state of mind’, set for release on December 18, 2024. The four-track collection follows their acclaimed 2022 release, ‘bar is low’, and a string of remixes and collaborations.

To celebrate, ABG will host an EP release party on Thursday, December 19, at Moon, joined by poets and Bankrupt co-conspirators:
• Skymning (DJ set)
• Synthetic Children
• Impress
• Margo Montes de Oca

A trademark ABG release, ‘Home is a state of mind’ distills their signature sound into a sub-20-minute package. The first single, musicmusicmusic—out now—fuses euphoric rave piano and frenetic breakbeats with a nostalgic touch of classic string pads and vocal cuts ripped straight from the Zero-G Datafiles.

‘Home is a state of mind’ is out December 18 via Bankrupt Records, with preorders now available on Bandcamp, including a limited run of minidiscs.

Bios:

thanks to BANKRUPT RECORDS, impress is about to play an absolute dogs dinner combo of her trough ambient & edited threemixes using a setup that no sensible person would dare to try on the fly. You've heard of hardware-only sets, but this is absolutely not that, and is instead a doubled-up laptop software and decade-old controller debut. using FL Studio at age 11 did not help her prepare for this at all. but you will watch and listen!

Asher Lee is a musician and label owner from Te Whanganui-a-tara Wellington, currently based in Tūrangi. Beginning performing and releasing music as skymning around 2010, Asher stacked up a number of independent releases before starting Bankrupt Records as a home for his own and other New Zealand music.

Margo Montes de Oca is a poet and researcher of Mexican and Pākehā descent, living in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. She is interested in writing that works across disciplines to investigate exchanges between human and more-than-human worlds. Her poetry has been published in issues of Starling, Sweet Mammalian, Min-a-rets, Mayhem Journal and Turbine | Kapohau.

Synthetic Children is the solo moniker of Te Papaioea based artist Celina Goacher (Khaki Department, Bitch Whistle). Via hardware synths n drum machines she explores cathartic dance music across wonky, often bass heavy tracks, moving swiftly between the moody and murky, to crisp, queer joy.
