King Leo will be joined by his son Oscar LaDell performing original blues and songs from their influences. Touring as King Leo and Son, the duo features King Leo on vocals and harp, with Oscar on guitar. Deep blues from two generations who love the music. For this band show, the duo will be joined by the great Wellington Blues players Chris Armour, Steve Moodie, and Richard Te One who all contributed to King Leo's self-titled album.
“King” Leo LaDell began his journey with Blues music in the 1990s after attending a B.B. King concert and diving into the music of the masters. Leo started his music career singing and playing harmonica, guitar and piano in bands on the east coast of the U.S. and in Denver, Colorado. While in Denver he led his own band - King Leo - and played in area bands and touring acts, including Bo Diddley, Pinetop Perkins (from Muddy Waters’ band) and touring with country legend Doug Kershaw.
Oscar LaDell grew up steeped in Blues and Soul music, and his powerful guitar playing richly combines classic influences with an original, fresh approach to the music. Oscar is based in Melbourne, touring Australia and Aotearoa/NZ regularly.
