After competing in regional events across the motu, the top solo and duo acts are coming together for a powerful night of original music that puts songwriting and musicianship in the spotlight.
This intimate, acoustic-style event strips performance back to its core: one or two people, their instruments, and their stories. They deliver honest and engaging performances that connect directly with the audience. Expect heartfelt lyrics, bold creativity, and fresh voices that capture the spirit of young New Zealand.
Smokefreerockquest has been the launching pad for some of the country’s most well-known music artists, and the Solo/Duo competition continues that legacy by celebrating the next generation of independent songwriters.
