parakozm- parakozm is a melodic cyberviolence project from Auckland. Combing an endless array of electronic influences ranging from breakcore to brostep into the careless screams of emoviolence, parakozm manages to evoke a sense of intensity and euphoria while capturing nihilism, obsession and romanticism.
SCRAN - New Zealand band SCRAN’s new single “The Verge” strikes with raw intensity, blending jagged guitars and relentless rhythms, capturing the urgency of yearning for something more. Produced by Steven J Marr and mastered by Mikey Young, the track reflects that uneasy feeling of being on the edge, caught between the desire for escape and the uncertainty of what lies beyond. Accompanying the release is a music video by Matt Kofoed, filmed in the basement below Karangahape Road, where new album Living Room was recorded. The space, once an old fish butchery, amplifies the track’s claustrophobic energy. In the video, frontman Lewis Yeats’ silhouette is seen navigating across flashing metallic textures, searching for something elusive. “The song is about that frustration of being stuck in a dull cycle, and the way that distorts the perception of what surrounds us.” - Lewis Yeats
Steal Wool - Stealwool (Previously known as Fishbait) is a 4 piece alternative act from Central Auckland.
Characterised by blistering sputtery fuzz, Stealwool has tendencies for noise, distortion, and uncompromised volume. With two J Mascis.-obsessed guitarists, a 5-string bass player, and a drummer who refuses to play quietly, Stealwool combines noise from different 90s alternatives like Hum, Seam, Dinosaur Jr, Unwound, Boris, and Built to Spill. Indulging in harmonic dissonance, unconventional song structures, dynamic shifts, and Marshall stacks that at least just give clues. Stealwool is sonically alternative.
