Join Olivier Holland and special guests for a live recording of a brand new international collaboration in the Kenneth Myers Centre.
Gjazz5 – Algeria/India Fusion Project taps into a rarely explored area of music fusion between some of the rhythmically richest cultures on this planet. Bassist Olivier Holland, a familiar face on the Auckland scene, welcomes the accomplished world music/jazz expert Djamel Laroussi from Algeria on guitar and vocals.
Manjit Singh, originally from India but residing in Papatoetoe, is the Indian music expert in this mix and well known in New Zealand as tabla player ‘par excellence’. Stephen Thomas on drums completes this lineup of scintillating players.
The performance will be recorded and filmed, so we ask that you arrive before 7.30pm, or you may have to wait for a suitable break in performance to be seated.
