Caught Live: Sleater-Kinney - I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone
Next week is going to be a bit of a 90s fest in Auckland with iconic alt outfit Violent Femmes and riot grrrl originators from Olympia, Sleater-Kinney, both gracing the city of sails for shows. The latter group is making their way to these shores on the heels of releasing their excellent eighth studio album No Cities To Love - their first full-length record after a decade long hiatus.
The reunited trio, which is made up of Corin Tucker (vocals, guitar), Carrie Brownstein (guitar, vocals), and Janet Weiss (drums), have been warming up their act with a few live appearances, including a blazing set at Austin City Limits a few weeks ago. Unfortunately only a few clips of the show made it online, but our favourite one is probably this performance of 'I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone', which is a song plucked from the group's 1996 album Call the Doctor. It was excluded from the original broadcast, but is a special web-extra, so soak it up below...
Sleater-Kinney will be performing next Monday 29th February at The Powerstation in Auckland, head over here for details.
