French For Rabbits Announce Album Release Tour + Share New Single 'One & Only'

Dream pop outfit French For Rabbits have emerged with details of their sophomore album and are announcing an extensive nationwide tour to celebrate. Forthcoming record, titled The Weight Of Melted Snow is slated for release on 10th March, the same day the pair kick off a 12-date tour with an expanded line-up that sees them joined by drummer Hikurangi Schaverien-Kaa (Glass Vaults), with multi-instrumentalists Ben Lemi (Trinity Roots) and Penelope Esplin, to conjure up their most expansive and cinematic sound to date.

The duo, who originally formed in 2011 in their hometown of Waikuku Beach, describe the new record as an album of two halves - on one side is the heartache of a relationship coming to and end, and the other is songs of healing and understanding. Upon unveiling lead single 'One & Only', frontwoman Brooke Singer writes: "You know when you realise it is time to let something go? And it is the hardest thing? This song is one of those moments. French for Rabbits Release New Album and Nationwide Tour
“The Weight of Melted Snow” March 10th

Coming with the late last rays of summer, dream pop band French for Rabbits are touring New Zealand this March and April to beckon in the autumn. The tour will coincide with the release of their second album The Weight of Melted Snow. And it is an album of weight, seeped in ghosts, memories, a yearning. It is an album of halves. On one side, the heartache of a relationship coming to an end, and on the other, a healing and an understanding that things will be okay.

Having toured extensively through Europe, opening for admired songwriter Agnes Obel, featuring twice on The Vampire Diaries, and garnering millions of listens online, French for Rabbits have been found by kindred music lovers worldwide. The New Zealand tour will take the band from Leigh to Queenstown with a special hometown show in Waikuku Beach at the local hall. They will be performing with an expanded five-piece line-up and their most expansive, cinematic sound to date.

French for Rabbits formed in 2011, when Singer and Fitzgerald began writing and recording lo-fi demos of ambient dream-folk in the small coastal township of Waikuku Beach. Now Wellington-based, they are joined by drummer Hikurangi Schaverien-Kaa (Glass Vaults), multi-instrumentalists Ben Lemi (Trinity Roots) and Penelope Esplin.

The band’s previous recordings include Spirits (2014) released on Lefse Records, and six song EP Claimed by the Sea (2012).
