Stream Maple Syrup's Debut Album 'Who Is Maple Syrup'

Wellingtonian indie rockers Maple Syrup have dropped eleven tracks of garagey good-time tunes under the intriguing title Who Is Maple Syrup?. Available through the ‘name your price’ scheme on Bandcamp, the sad-sounding song titles such as ‘Maybe Someday (I’ll Have A Friend)’ belie the happy-go-lucky fun time vibes of the compositions.

The album, which boasts coverart reminiscent of a colourful, less-daunting version of 1930s horror flick The Invisible Man, is littered with vocal interplay and catchy guitar licks, as demonstrated in the likes of ‘Vogue Model’. "For this record we wanted to imitate our live sound as much as possible. The album explores a mix of melodic indie pop to heavy distorted grunge exposing both the sweet and dark sides of Maple Syrup,"said vocalist/guitarist Vera Ellen of the compendium of songs.
