PRESS RELEASE:

Electronic music pioneer KEVIN SAUNDERSON returns to New Zealand for one show only for the first time since 2006 on September 29th at Auckland’s Neck of the Woods as part of rooftop series Anno Domini’s launch for the up and coming summer.

As one of the Belleville Three, he helped to pioneer dance music in Detroit in the early 80s. Alongside Juan Atkins and Derrick May, Saunderson's synth and drum machine experiments paved the way for the entire techno movement. From there his productions, as Kreem, E-Dancer, and Reese, saw him develop the sound of techno, and slowly combine it with a more mainstream sound happening down the road in Chicago - the sound of house music.

Eventually, this lead to the birth of cross-over act Inner City, which put the sound of Detroit on the map, with multiple chart topping singles like ‘Big Fun’ and ‘Good Life’ both in America, the UK & around the world.

Kevin Saunderson's nickname is 'The Elevator', and it makes sense. He has toured relentlessly over the past three decades, at almost every festival and club worth naming - and anyone who has witnessed him can attest to his high-energy, spirited DJ sets. But more than that - he has basically spent his life elevating dance music. Saunderson's record label KMS has been running for an incredible 30 years, helping introduce the world to the likes of MK, Chez Damier, and R-Tyme. And he is intertwined with Detroit's flagship music festival Movement - one of the cornerstone festivals in the world today. Truly, Kevin Saunderson is The Groove That Won't Stop.

Tickets go on sale from http://justtheticketnz.com/ 9am Monday 31st July
