Listen To Delaney Davidson's Album 'Shining Day'

Friday 20th April, 2018 10:14AM

Lyttelton songwriting icon Delaney Davidson has unveiled 'Shining Day', his first studio album since 2015's Lucky Guy following a stellar run of singles. Currently wending his way through Europe on tour with regular collaborator Marlon Williams, Davidson's spellbinding latest collection features special guests Neil Finn, SJD and folk-blues singer Nicole Izobel Garcia. We chatted with Davidson last night while he was enjoying brief downtime between shows in Stockholm, we'll be running our full interview with the artist very soon, in the meantime here's words from the man himself on the themes behind his new record and how it came together...

"I wonder about stuff, because you look at things afterwards and you see the themes jumping up to bite you in the face... some of the songs came from 2002 and some of the songs were written earlier this year, and were written after the album had even started to come together. Like the song 'Shining Day', which the album is named after, was written with SJD... that song just jumped out of something so strong. I really like the idea of it, the idea that it's always your shining day you know, it's just up to you to enjoy it."
