Aretha Franklin 'Queen of Soul' Dies Aged 76
Legendary US soul singer Aretha Franklin has reportedly died in Detroit this morning at age 76, from advanced pancreatic cancer. The artist's passing spurred spontaneous tributes across the globe to the celebrated 'Queen of Soul', with former US president Barack Obama saying her voice offered “a glimpse of the divine,” where Americans could feel “our power and our pain, our darkness and our light, our quest for redemption and our hard-won respect”.
