The National Announce New Album + Share Single 'You Had Your Soul With You'
Ohio indie rockers The National have announced their eighth studio album I Am Easy To Find is dropping this May, with the first taster tune from the collection ‘You Had Your Soul With You’ unveiled today. The new record's lead track begins with a glitchy, synth-splattered intro before falling into the heartfelt hooks of singer Matt Berninger with guest vocals by long-time David Bowie collaborator Gail Ann Dorsey, accompanied by sparking guitar melodies and driving drums.
Upping the aesthetic ante, The National will also be releasing a 24 minute short film bearing the same name as their forthcoming long player, directed by Mike Mills (20th Century Women, Beginners) and starring Alicia Vikander. The band specifically state the audio-visual work will not be a music video for the album, saying the two projects are "playfully hostile siblings that love to steal from each other.” Immerse yourself in ‘You Had Your Soul With You’ and watch a trailer for the film below...
'I Am Easy To Find' is out Friday 17th May via 4AD.
