Mermaidens Announce New Album + Unveil Single 'I Might Disappear'
Mermaidens have followed up on their biting and dirgey recent student radio hit 'You Maintain The Stain' with new single 'I Might Disappear', heralding the imminent release of the Wellington trio's third studio album Look Me in the Eye, dropping this September via Flying Nun Records. The team of Gussie Larkin (also of Earth Tongue, whose stellar debut album Floating Being landed late last month), Lily West, and Abe Hollingsworth's new song walks a sonic tightrope between zones of mystic guitar melodies, zig-zagging bass lines and piercing lyricism, accompanied by an on-the-road clip filmed by Ezra Simons, documenting the hard-gigging trio's recent tour in Europe and the UK. Look Me in the Eye was recorded with frequent collaborator audio engineer James Goldsmith, who also lent his skills to the titanic new album from Beastwars. You can scope out the track list for Mermaidens' new record below (sporting such ominously relatable titles as 'Crying in the Office'), and experience 'I Might Disappear' here...
