Live Photos: Wax Chattels, Na Noise - Whammy Bar, Auckland

Wax Chattels are front and centre this month, shifting from an era of black and white to their fleshy pink Clot album vibes. The Tāmaki Makaurau trio, all rhythm section and keys, have been dormant on the release front since their Taite Music Prize nominated debut album in 2018, enough time for keyboardist Peter Ruddell to release his first album as Sulfate (Happy Birthday Peter!). Two weeks ago they launched back into the record release cycle with 'No Ties', the lead track from Clot. On Friday Wax Chattels packed out Karangahape Road's Whammy Bar to celebrate the new single with support from local lo-fi duo Na Noise, and camera whizz Connor Crawford took himself and his keen eye along to capture the evening.
